Bears Rally to Edge RSC

POTSDAM, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College women's lacrosse team was edged 12-11 this afternoon at SUNY Potsdam.

Ahead 5-4 at the break, the Gators netted six third period goals to enter the final quarter ahead 11-8. However, the host Bears outscored RSC 4-0 during the final 15 minutes to take the Tuesday non-conference matinee.

The Gators (2-3) received four points from four different players.

Senior midfielder Caroline Musinski (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) and junior attacker Alexandra Queeney (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) each registered three goals and an assist. Junior midfielder Ashley Hearn (Waterloo, NY/Waterloo) and junior attacker Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) recorded two goals and two assists apiece.

Hearn led all participants with nine groundballs, to go along with four caused turnovers. Queeney came up with a team-best four draw controls.

Senior attacker Anita Reitano (Averill Park, NY) topped SUNY Potsdam (2-3) with eight points on three goals and five assists.

Looking ahead, RSC begins Empire 8 Conference play on Saturday vs. Medaille. Start time is set for 2:00 PM.


Notes: The spring marks the debut for Rob Bray at the helm of the Gators…Bray, who arrived to Albany in January, previously coached at Oregon and Vanderbilt…13 returnees and three newcomers make up the roster.
