Hines Helps Bray Secure First RSC Victory

ALBANY, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College outscored visiting SUNY Poly 8-1 in the opening quarter to earn a 19-6 win tonight at the ACP Athletic Complex. 

Junior attacker Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) led the Gators (1-1) with nine points on eight goals and an assist. The nine points is tied for fifth-most by an RSC player in a single-game, while the eight goals is tied for fourth. She added nine groundballs and five caused turnovers, helping Rob Bray secure his first victory at the helm of the Gators. 

Senior attacker Samantha Shafer (Schenectady, NY/Schenectady) contributed five points on four goals and an assist, while junior attacker Alexandra Queeney (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) registered three goals and an assist.  

Senior midfielder Molly Burdick topped the Wildcats (1-2), which were out-shot 41-9 on the night, with three goals. 

Looking ahead, RSC (1-1) plays next on Saturday at Castleton. Start time is set for 1:00 pm.


Notes: The spring marks the debut for Rob Bray at the helm of the Gators…Bray, who arrived to Albany in January, previously coached at Oregon and Vanderbilt…13 returnees and three newcomers make up the roster.
