Gators Upended in Season Opener

ALBANY, N.Y. –  In the season opener for both teams, Russell Sage College was upended 14-11 by visiting SUNY Plattsburgh this afternoon at the ACP Athletic Complex.

The Cardinals, which began the Sunday matinee on a 6-0 run, withstood a late Gator charge to secure the non-conference win. Down 13-7 going into the final period, RSC outscored the visitors 4-1 to get within three with 5:41 left.

Junior attacker Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) led the Gators with four goals, while senior midfielder Caroline Musinski (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) and Junior midfielder Marissa Key (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) each scored twice.

Senior midfielder Lindsay Guzzetta topped SUNY Plattsburgh with five goals.

Looking ahead, RSC (0-1) plays next on Wednesday, March 8th vs. SUNY Poly. The home non-conference action is set to commence at 5:30 pm.


Notes: The spring marks the debut for Rob Bray at the helm of the Gators…Bray, who arrived to Albany in January, previously coached at Oregon and Vanderbilt…13 returnees and three newcomers make up the roster.
