Gators Fall at Utica

UTICA, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College suffered its first Empire 8 Conference setback of the spring with tonight's 19-6 loss at Utica University.

Sophomore attacker Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland), the reigning E8 Player of the Week, topped the Gators (5-6/2-1 E8) with four points on three goals and an assist. Sophomore midfielder Marissa Key (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury) (above) scored two goals, while junior goalkeeper Madeline Butta (Millbrook, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes), who took home E8 Goalkeeper of the Week honors on Monday, registered 11 saves.

Attacker Ashley Guerra, a grad student, led the Pioneers (7-2/2-1 E8), which netted the opening eight goals of the contest and led 13-4 at the break, with six points, three goals and a like number of assists.

Looking ahead, RSC hosts St. John Fisher on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm.

Notes: Butta was named the E8 Goalkeeper of the Week on Monday...She stopped 17 of the 20 shots that she faced in Friday's win vs. Keuka...The 17 saves set a career-high...Hines entered the week second in the conference with 3.30 goals per-game...She was named the E8 Player of the Week on Monday...Hines established a career-high with seven goals in the Keuka victory.
