Gators Fall at SUNY Plattsburgh

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College was upended 15-5 this afternoon at SUNY Plattsburgh. The host Cardinals scored on six of their first 11 shots, to hold a 6-0 lead after the opening 15 minutes and 12-3 at the half.

Sophomore attacker Alexandra Queeney (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) topped the Gators, which had their two-game winning streak snapped today, with two goals and two draw controls. Sophomore attacker Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland), who was named the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week on Monday, sophomore midfielder Marissa Key (Monroe, NY/Monroe-Woodbury), and freshman midfielder Aimee Rodriquez (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) (above) also found the back of the net, while junior goalkeeper Madeline Butta (Millbrook, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) registered 11 saves.

SUNY Plattsburgh (2-4) had five players record multiple points, including three that netted hat tricks. Senior attacker Emily Caoili paced the offense with four points on two goals and two assists.

Looking ahead, RSC (3-5) opens E8 play on Saturday at 1:00 PM vs. Alfred.

Notes: Sophomore attacker Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) was named the E8 Player of the Week on Monday. She totaled 10 points, nine goals and an assist, six draw controls, and four groundballs as RSC went 2-1 last week.
