RSC and three Gators honored by IWLCA for Academic Success!

NORTHBOROUGH, MASS. – The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) has named 319 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA as IWLCA Academic Honor Squads for the 2020-21 academic year. To qualify for this prestigious honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year. Russell Sage College women's lacrosse team was one of the honored team programs for Division III as the team combined for a 3.49 grade point average.

In addition, three members of the 2021 team were also saluted for their outstanding performances in the classroom as the IWLCA also announced the 2021 Division III Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater. All told, 918 student-athletes from 189 different institutions on the 2021 IWLCA Division III Academic

Honor Roll.

Named to the Division III Academic Honor Roll for RSC were graduate players Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) and Alexandra Franco (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) and senior Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River). Gage, who earned a spot on the 2021 Empire 8 Third Team, was also honored in May with a selection as Female Dean Sharon Robinson Scholar-Athlete of the Year, while Franco was named to the 2021 Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse Sportswoman of the Year Team.

Gage, an occupational therapy major in the graduate program, finished the season as the team's point leader with 22 on 12 goals with 10 assists. Gage wraps her stellar career having left her mark on the program's record book. Gage is fourth in career points at Sage with 83 adding 55 goals and 28 assists. Her 55 goals stands seventh in career goals, while her 28 assists was second. She set the program's career ground ball record (129), and caused turnovers record (72), while ranking second wither 134 career draw controls. Gage played in 55 games at RSC, which is No. 2 while her 51 career starts stands second as well. On Sunday, Gage was named the RSC Dean Robinson Senior Female Scholar-Athlete as the student-athlete with the highest grade point average.

Franco, who was a starter in 8 games this past spring and added seven points. A physical therapy major in graduate school, she had three goals with four assists and added five ground ball pickups with a draw control and one caused turnover. She wraps her career having played in 40 games and ranks No. 4 all-time with her 16 career assists. She added 33 career points along the way with 17 goals.

Keravich, who also participated in the spring of 2021 as a member of the women's lacrosse team, also excelled as a member of the women's cross country team, the first RSC indoor women's track and field team, and the women's outdoor track and field team. In women's lacrosse, the biology major, excelled in the mid-field. She wraps her time with the program having played in 41 games, which is eighth best as well. Over the course of her career she added 8 points on 7 goals with 39 ground ball pickups, 14 caused turnovers and 15 draw controls.

Russell Sage College's women's lacrosse team had three players honored with the release of the 2021 Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams. The Gators earned a spot in the Empire 8 Tournament this spring, a program first and wrapped their campaign with a record of 3-6.
