Albany, NY —Russell Sage College's women's lacrosse team hosted the Pioneers of Utica College on Wednesday afternoon in an Empire 8 contest. Utica collected a 20-2 win over the Gators as junior attacker Lexi Scaccia (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) led the way with nine points on four goals with five assists. With the win, Utica improves to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the Empire 8, while RSC is now 1-1 overall and 0-1 in the league.
Utica had a 14-1 lead at the break as they had 11 different players finish in the scoring mix.
Sophomore attacker Caroline Musinski (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) and rookie Grace Hines (Schenectady, NY/Guilderland) scored one goal each for the Gators.
In goal for the Gators, senior Carly Plaisance (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) started the contest, allowing seven goals with three saves in 8:21 minutes of work. Senior Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) worked 51 plus minutes with 10 saves and 13 goals allowed.
Utica's junior Claire Frier (Lafayette, NY/Lafayette) collected the win after 21:13 minutes of work with a pair of saves and one goal allowed as she is now 2-3.
Sage returns to action on March 27 travelling to Alfred University for a 2 p.m. Empire 8 contest.
