Falcons best Gators on Saturday, 14-7

Albany, NY —The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team hosted the Falcons of Fitchburg State on Saturday in non-conference play. Falcon senior midfielder Nicole Kopacz (Tewskbury, MA/Shawsheen Valley Tech) added four goals to help her team to the 14-7 road win. With the win, Fitchburg is now 2-1, while Sage drops to 0-2.

The Falcons led 7-2 at the half  and despite a late charge from the Gators came away with the win. Sage's rookie Caroline Musinski (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) collected three goals for Sage with an assist. The Gators got a single goal from sophomore Paige Stewart (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown), senior Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush), sophomore Chloe Pratt (Kinderhook, NY/Ichabod Crane), and junior Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River).

Fitchburg also got six points from junior Madison Alves (Braintree, MA/Braintree) as she had three goals and three assists, while rookie Eva Kozikowski (Portsmouth, NH/Portsmouth) added three goals and an assist.

Sage's junior goalie Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) made the start with six saves and seven goals allowed in the first half of play. Junior goalie Carly Plaisance (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) entered at the half and had four saves with seven goals allowed.

Fitchburg's rookie keeper Francesca Reyes (Malden, MA/Malden) picked up the win to improve to 2-1 after making nine saves with seven goals allowed.

Sage's Gage is now eighth in career points with 59, while also ranking ninth with her 41 career goals.

Sage returns to action on March 10 hosting Mt. St. Mary College in a 6:30 p.m. home game at ACP Stadium, while Fitchburg State travels to Castleton for a 1 p.m. road game on March 8.
