Risler, McKeown score twice each in home loss to Cazenovia

Albany, NY— Callie Andolina scored six goals to lead the Cazenovia College women's lacrosse team to a 16-4 non-league victory over The Sage Colleges at ACP Field Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats improved to 4-6 while the Gators fell to 2-10.

Jenna Townsend scored four goals with an assist and Breanna Howe had two goals with three assists. Michaela Breeze had four assists for the Cougars. Amanda Drazek made six saves in the visiting net. Andolina had 10 shots, six on net, with five ground balls. Seven of Townsend's eight shots were on net and Andolina and Howe each caused three turnovers. Four players had one goal each for the visitors.

Junior attack Anne Risler (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) scored two goals and freshman defender Kerry McKeown (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) also scored twice for the Gators. Junior midfielder Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) had four ground balls, and she now has 101 career ground balls. She became only the second player with 100 or more ground balls in program history, joining all-time leader Monica Koralus '17. Freshman defender Alexandra Lettre (Kingston, NY/Kingston) recorded a game best eight ground balls and Risler had five grounders for the game. Risler moved into fifth all-time in Sage career goals, now with 59, and is now tied with Shirah Fudin '15 in fifth place in points with 68. Sophomore Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) made 10 saves during her time just over 47 minutes and sophomore Carly Plaisance (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) made two stops in nearly 13 minutes of play.

Cazenovia outshot Sage, 39-17 but had just seven more ground balls (28-21). Both teams had 13 clears and the Gators had 28 turnovers to 21 for the Cougars. Cazenovia won 12 of the 21 draw controls. The guests scored the first seven goals of the game and led 12-1 at the half. Sage scored three straight from 25:13 to 17:36 in the second half.

Sage will host Empire 8 rival Nazareth College Saturday, April 20 at 1 p.m. at ACP Field. It will be Senior Day for the Gators at their final home game of the regular season. Cazenovia is home Friday, April 19 to host Lancaster Bible at 3 p.m.
