Hartwick wins Empire 8 women's lacrosse game at Sage

Albany, NY— GinaMarie Wilson scored eight goals and assisted on another to lead the Hartwick College women's lacrosse team to a 22-0 Empire 8 victory over The Sage Colleges at ACP Field Wednesday afternoon. The Hawks improved to 6-5 overall and 3-1 in the league while the Gators are 2-7 for the season and 1-3 Empire 8 play.

Amy Tracy scored five goals with an assist and Hailey Pooler dished out five assists along with her three goals. Jennifer Darasz scored three times with an assist and Hartwick got single scores from Emma Knapp, Michaela McKernan and Rachel Hedden, who had three assists.

Wilson had 10 shots, all on net, with four ground balls while Kayla Tracy had a team high six ground balls and Darasz added four. Ashley Jablonski got the win with four saves in 30 minutes, while Jennifer Paszko made one stop in her 30 minutes in the Hartwick cage.

Freshman defender Alexandra Lettre (Kingston, NY/Kingston) recorded a team best five ground balls for the Gators, and she also added two caused turnovers. Junior midfielder Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) and freshman midfielder Kelsey Fairley (Kingston, NY/Kingston) also had two caused turnovers each. Sophomore attack Sophia Pierce (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) led Sage with three shots two on net. Starting freshman goalkeeper Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) made seven saves in just over 39 minutes of play in the Sage cage, while sophomore Carly Plaisance (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) stopped one and senior Jenna Cislak (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) made two saves.

Hartwick had 43 shots on the day and got 32 of 48 ground balls. The Hawks were successful on 11 of 14 clears and forced 31 turnovers.

Sage is home again Friday for an Empire 8 game against Houghton College at 4:30 p.m. at ACP Field. Hartwick hosts #15 St. John Fisher Saturday at 1 p.m. in an Empire 8 matchup.
