Sage women's lacrosse loses at SUNY Poly

Marcy, NY— Kayla Prosinski scored five goals with six assists to lead SUNY Polytechnic Institute's women's lacrosse team to a 21-5 home win over The Sage Colleges at Wildcat Field Wednesday. The Wildcats are 5-3 after this non-league victory while the Gators now stand 2-6.

Samantha Dator also scored five goals while Emily Somes had three goals and assisted on six others for the Wildcats. Jennifer Maxam and Kaley Pichura scored twice each to lead the hosts. Alycia Lugo made two saves in the SUNY Poly goal.

Sage had five different goal scorers in the contest. Junior attack Anne Risler (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names), junior midfielder Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush), sophomore attack Sophia Pierce (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville), sophomore midfielder Sophia Keravich (Barrington, OH/Oyster River) and freshman defender Kerry McKeown (Glenville, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) each scored for the Gators. Keravich had five ground balls and Cage and Risler retrieved four each. Sophomore Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) made 13 saves during 30 minutes, while senior Jenna Cislak (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) made one save.

Risler's goal was the 50th of her career, as she became the seventh player in Sage women's lacrosse history to score 50 goals.

SUNY Poly won 20 of the 27 draw controls and outshot the guests, 39-11. Sage was three-for-four on clears and SUNY Poly was perfect on clears, five-for-five. The Wildcats recorded 41 ground balls and Sage had 28. SUNY Poly had a 14-1 lead after the first half.

Sage plays Wednesday, April 3 at SUNY Polytechnic at 4 p.m. Elmira is back in action tomorrow, hosting Cazenovia at 2 p.m. at the Ernie Davis Complex in Elmira.
