Medaille wins in women's lacrosse game at Sage

Albany, NY -- Macayla Barry scored five goals to lead Medaille College to a 19-4 non-league women's lacrosse victory over The Sage Colleges at ACP Field Tuesday afternoon. The Mavericks remain undefeated with a 4-0 record while the Gators are 0-2.

Alexis Ackerson scored four goals and Emma Campagna and Samantha Burlow added three each for the Mavericks. Claire Purdy scored twice and Medaille got single goals from Kelsey Beres and Kristen Kline. Goalkeeper Brianna Phillips made one save in the visiting net.

Four players scored their first goals of the season for Sage. Sophomore Sophia Keravich (Barrington, NH/Oyster River) scored with 13:13 left in the first half, and sophomore attack Alex Franco (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Spa) scored with just 3:31 left in the first half. Sophomore attack Sophia Pierce (Scotia, NY/Scotia-Glenville) scored just 4:35 into the second half and junior midfielder Brittany Gates (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) scored with 8:39 left on a free position goal. Sophomore Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) made eight saves in over 33 minutes of action in the Sage net while senior Jenna Cislak (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) (one stop) and sophomore Carly Plaisance (Bennington, VT/Mount Anthony Union) (two) combined for three saves.

Medaille had 33 of the game's 39 shots and had a slight 15-10 edge in draw controls. The Mavericks were successful on seven of eight clear attempts. The guests had 17 ground balls and Sage had 11.

Sage is back in action at MCLA Thursday, March 14 at 6:00 p.m. Medaille plays tomorrow, Wednesday, March 13 against Utica at Amherst at 11:00 a.m.
