Sperl tapped as Empire 8 Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week

Rochester, NY-- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team was recognized on Monday as senior Torri Sperl (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) was honored as the Empire 8 women's lacrosse player of the week.

Sperl led Sage to a 3-0 week, with her 20 points on 16 goals with four assists. Added 2 game-winning goals with 10 GB and 12 draws. The Gators' top scorer this season, now has 46 points on 37 goals with nine assists. She capped the Gators' 3-0 week with her impressive numbers that include 20 points on 16 goals and four assists with 12 draw controls and 10 ground ball pickups. Sperl is third in career points as Sage with 86 points, while standing third in goals with 75 and sixth with her 11 assists.

She was instrumental in the team's success as she helped the Gators beat Southern Vermont College, 15-2 on Tuesday, UNY-Polytechnic 18-6 on Thursday and Empire 8 opponent, Elmira College, 14-10.

Sage is now 5-9 overall and 2-5 in the Empire 8. The five wins in a season is tied for the second most wins in a season as the 2018 Gators have tied the mark set in 2015 as the team added five wins in head Coach Lauren Marois' first season.

Next up for the Gators, they will host the No. 24 ranked Ducks of Stevens Institute of Technology in a 4 p.m. Empire 8 contest on April 25 at Albany College of Pharmacy's Athletic Field.
