Women's lacrosse tops Elmira 14-10 for 3rd straight win!

Elmira, NY-- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team collected their third straight win as they topped the Soaring Eagles of Elmira College on Saturday afternoon, 14-10. With the win, Sage is now 5-8 overall and 2-5 in the Empire 8. Elmira falls to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in the league. The five wins in a season is tied for the second most wins in a season as the 2018 Gators have tied the mark set in 2015 as the team added five wins in head Coach Lauren Marois' first season.

Sage's senior Torri Sperl (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) picked up six points in the game as she tallied four goals with two assists. The Gators' top scorer this season, now has 46 points on 37 goals with nine assists. She capped the Gators' 3-0 week with her impressive numbers that include 20 points on 16 goals and four assists with 12 draw controls and 10 ground ball pickups.

Sperl is third in career points as Sage with 86 points, while standing third in goals with 75 and sixth with her 11 assists.  

Senior Martine Ianniello (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) added two goals and two assists, while sophomore attackers Anne Risler (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) and Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) both added three goals.   Ianniello now has 61 career points, good enough for the No. 6 spot in career points, while her 51 career goals is also sixth.

Sage's rookie goalie Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) earned the complete game win to stand at 3-3 on the season after making 12 saves in the action.

Next up for the Gators, they will host nationally ranked Stevens Institute of Technology in a 4 p.m. Empire 8 contest on April 25 at Albany College of Pharmacy's Athletic Field.
