Sperl finds the net 7 times to lead Sage past Wildcats, 18-6

Albany, NY-- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse squad hosted the Wildcats of SUNY-Polytechnic on Thursday night and collected the 18-6 victory to improve to 4-8 overall. SUNY-Polytechnic drops to 4-8 overall. For the second straight game, Sage's senior Torri Sperl (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) picked up seven points on seven goals.

Sage led 8-4 at the half and had six different players figure into the scoring on the night. Sperl finished with a team-best seven goals, giving her a team-leading 33 goals. She is now third on the career point list with 80 points, while also standing third with her 71 career goals.

Sophomore attacker Anne Risler (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) picked up six points for the Gators as she tallied five goals with an assist. Senior Martine Ianniello (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) added three goals with an assist. Senior Adriana Spucches (Saugerties, NY/Red Hook) added one goal with three assists for the Gators.  Ianniello now has 57 career points, good enough for the No. six spot in career points, while her 49 career goals is now sixth. Spucches is now in fifth place with her 12 career assists.

For the Wildcats, sophomore Kayla Prosinski (Endwell, NY/Union-Endicott) finished with four goals, while junior Kristen Deuel (Whitesboro, NY/Whitesboro) added two goals and an assist. Prosinski now has 39 goals on the year, while Deuel checks in with eight goals.

Sage's rookie goalies Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) earned the complete game win to stand at 2-3 on the season after making eight saves. SUNY-Polytechnic's rookie Felicia Bianca (Guilderland, NY/Guilderland) took the loss after recording 12 saves in the action.

Next up for the Gators, they will travel to Elmira for a 3 p.m. Empire 8 contest on Saturday, April 21 at Ernie Davis School in Elmira, NY.
