Women's lacrosse stumbles at Hartwick

Oneonta, NY-- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team visited Hartwick College on Wednesday afternoon for an Empire 8 contest. The Hawks earned the 23-3 win to improve to 7-3 overall and 3-1 in the league, while Sage drops to 2-7 overall and 1-4 in the league.

Hartwick held a 13-1 lead at the intermission and was paced by the play of Ashley Werner who finished with eight goals, while Hailey Poller added nine points on one goal with eight assists. GinaMarie Wilson added four goals as well for the Hawks.

Sage's senior Martine Ianniello (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) added one goal, while sophomore Anne Risler (Albany, NY/Academy of the Holy Names) and sophomore Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) all scored for the Gators.

Ianniello collected her 50th career point on Wednesday and is now sixth in career points, while ranking seventh with her 43 career goals. Gage now has 55 career draws to her credit and is now fifth on the Gator career list. Graduate performer Savannah Mason (Wynantskill, NY/Averill Park) racked up two more ground ball pickups fourth in career ground ball scoops as she has 80 in her time with the Gators.

Sage's rookie goalie Marina Azab (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) made the start, yielding seven goals with a pair of saves in her 13:17 minutes of work in net. Freshman Carly Plaisance (Bennington, VT/Mount Union Anthony) recorded a seven saves in the goal with six goals allowed in 24:20, while junior tri-captain Jenna Cislak (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) added five saves with 10 goals allowed in 22:33 in net.

Next up for the Gators, they will host No. 20 ranked St. John Fisher College on April 14 at RPI's Renwyck Field in a 1 p.m. Empire 8 match-up on Saturday.
