Sage falls to Mariners in Skyline Action

Kings Point, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team travelled to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday afternoon for a Skyline Conference match-up with the Mariners. After holding an 8-3 edge at the half, Kings Point went on to earn the 14-10 win to stand at 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the league. The loss puts Sage at 1-6 overall and 0-2 in the league.

Sage's senior tri-captain Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Millbrook) connected for a team-best five points on five goals, while junior attacker Torri Sperl (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) tallied three goals in the action. On the 2017 season, Koralus has a team-best 27 points on 23 goals with four assists, while Sperl is the Gators' second leading scorer with her 12 points on 11 goals with an assist.

Junior tri-captain Martine Ianniello (Harve de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) added a goal with an assist for Sage in the contest.

Koralus continues to rewrite the program's record book with every appearance on the field. She now has 176 points with 136 goals and 40 assists, while Ianniello is now No. 8 in career points with 28 (24 goals, 4 assists).

Sage's senior goalie Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) suffered the loss after making seven saves in the match. She holds Sage's career saves mark having added 468 saves as a Gator.

The Gators are back in action on April 5 for a 7 p.m. road Skyline Contest at Purchase College.
