Bard uses strong second half to overtake Gators, 12-7

Kingston, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team travelled to Bard College for a non-conference match-up with the Raptors on Saturday. After holding a 5-4 lead at the half, Sage fell to Bard 12-7 as the Raptors tallied eight goals in the second half of play. With the win, Bard is now 3-1 on the year while Sage drops to 1-4. For the Gators, senior tri-captain Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Millbrook) connected for a team-best three goals on Saturday, while junior Torri Sperl (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) added two goals.

Koralus already holds almost every single Sage women's lacrosse scoring records and continues to add to her impressive career resume.  She already has 14 goals on the season with three assists, elevating her list of Gator high-water marks to 166 points, 127 goals, 39 assists, 90 ground ball pickups, and 130 draw controls.

For Bard, Caleigh DeCaprio led the way with four goals, while Melissa Rosenthal added four points on three goals with an assist.

Sage's senior goalie Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) racked up five saves in the match. The program's all-time saves leader now boasts 457 saves as a Gator.  Bard's Kaylynn Tran tallied 11 saves in the contest to earn the win.

The Gators will host the Knights of Mt. St. Mary College on Tuesday, March 28 at 4 p.m. at Albany College of Pharmacy's Athletic Complex in the team's 2017 Skyline Conference opener.
