Gators fall short at SUNY-Poly

Utica, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team travelled to SUNY-Polytechnic for a non-conference match-up on Tuesday night.  SUNY-Polytechnic held a 6-4 lead at the half before tallying nine second half goals and posting the 15-9 home win to improve to 2-0, while Sage drops to 0-3.

The Gators were paced by the play of a senior tri-captain Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Millbrook). She added three goals on the night, while junior Ellen Abbott (East Greenbush, NY/Columbia) netted a pair in the game.

Sage got one goal each from graduate performer Nicole Maher (Glen Cover, NY/Saint Dominic), junior midfielder Adriana Spucches (Saugerties, NY/Red Hook), junior Torri Sperl (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties), and rookie Brittany Gage (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush).

For Koralus a 2016 Skyline Conference All-Star First Team selection, she continues to add to the growing list of records she already holds in the career record book. She has 154 points with a program-best 117 goals. Maher, a 2016 Skyline Conference All-Star Second Team pick in her rookie season as a lacrosse player at Sage, now has 36 career goals, good enough for the No. 7 spot on the career list.

Sage's senior goalie Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) racked up nine saves in the contest and adds to her career mark for most saves with 449. She shared time in goal with senior Chelsea Hunt (Verplank, NY/Hendrick Hudson).

The Gators will host MCLA on March 23 at 4 p.m. at nearby Albany College of Pharmacy's Athletic Field for the team's 2017 home opener.
