Sage drops match-up with Lakers in women's lacrosse action

Oswego, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team travelled to Oswego State for a non-conference match-up with the Lakers on Thursday afternoon. The contest marked a return to her alma mater for Sage's second year head coach Lauren Marois, a 2013 graduate of Oswego and a former goalkeeper for the Lakers. Oswego posted the 17-2 win to improve to 1-1 on the year, while Sage drops to 0-2 on the season.

Oswego led 12-1 at the half and Gemma O'Kaine led her team with five goals and two assists for seven points in the contest.

Sage got a goal from graduate performer Nicole Maher (Glen Cover, NY/Saint Dominic) on a feed from senior tri-captain Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Millbrook). In the second half, junior midfielder Adriana Spucches (Saugerties, NY/Red Hook) added her first goal of the season.

For Koralus, the assist marks her 151st career points as she adds to her career records that also include 37 assists. Maher, a 2016 Skyline Conference All-Star Second Team pick in her rookie season as a lacrosse player at Sage, now has 30 career goals, good enough for the No. 7 spot on the career list.

Sage's senior goalie Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) racked up 10 saves in the contest and adds to her career mark for most saves with 440.

The Gators will host Elms College on March 18 at 1 p.m. at nearby Albany College of Pharmacy's Athletic Field for the team's 2017 home opener.
