Gators drop opener on the road to SUNY-Potsdam

Potsdam, NY- The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team opened the 2017 season on Wednesday afternoon facing the Bears of SUNY-Potsdam. Potsdam tallied the 17-1 win to improve to 1-2 on the season, while Sage drops to 0-1 on the young season.

Senior co-captain Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Millbrook) scored the lone goal for Sage to add to her resume in the contest as she opened her final season as the program's all-time leading goal scorer with 114 goals, point leader with 150 points and assist leader with 36.

The Gators trailed 10-0 at the half as Murphy Newman led the Bears with five goals, while Rachael Huntley added four goals with two assists in the contest.

Koralus also set the Sage mark for most career draw controls as a junior and added two on Wednesday, elevating her mark to 120.

Sage's senior goalie Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) opened her final season as well and made seven saves in the contest. She adds to her active record for most career saves as she boasts 430.

Sage is back in action on March 9 traveling to Oswego State for a 4 p.m. non-conference match with the Lakers. The Gators will host Elms College on March 18 at 1 p.m. at nearby Albany College of Pharmacy's Athletic Field for the team's 2017 home opener
