2017 Team Tri-Captain

Tapped as a team co-captain for the 2017 campaign once again, Monica Koralus returns for her final season after rewriting the women’s lacrosse record books as a junior.

Koralus, who was also a Skyline Conference First Team All-Star and the team's 2016 Gator of the Year as the Most Outstanding Player, shattered most of the program's career and single-season marks along the way. She led the Gators with 77 points on 64 goals and 15 assists, all of which are single-season marks. She is also the program's career leader in all three categories as she has racked up 149 points on a record 113 goals and 36 assists, while also holding the career mark for most draw controls after adding a single-season record 64 in 2016 to elevate her career total to 118.

With the release of the final 2016 NCAA Division III statistics, Koralus was among the national leaders in seven different categories. She was ranked No. 13 in goals per game average with her 4.27 goals per game average. She was also No. 31 in goals, No. 27 in points per game average (5.27), while also ranking 66th in points (79), No. 16 free position goals per game (1.07), No. 65 free position percentage (.552) and No. 73 draw controls per game (4.27).

She has played in 40 games entering the 2017 season with 38 starts and is poised to break both of those career records as well this spring, while adding to her resume that also includes 26 free position goals, and 52 caused turnovers, with 76 ground ball pickups.

A two-sport standout at Sage, she also excelled for the women’s soccer team at Sage. Over the course of her career on the soccer pitch, she led the team to back to back appearances in the Skyline Conference semifinals after helping the 2015 team to the program’s first Skyline Conference regular-season championship after an 8-1 showing.  She played in 68 games with 17 career points in soccer on 6 goals with 5 assists.

Her success in soccer has parlayed her into her strong spring campaigns with the Gator women’s lacrosse team. As a sophomore in 2015 she was the second-leading scorer with 34 goals and 16 assists. She also had 28 ground ball pickups with an impressive 35 draw controls. By year’s end, she was honored as the Gator Award winner as the Most Valuable Player.

A graduate of Millbrook High School, she was a three-sport performer in high school, excelling in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. A team captain in soccer, she was also voted the Most Athletic Award recipient. She also earned a spot on the Section 9 Lacrosse All-Star Team.

In soccer, she was part of the 2009 National Soccer Hall of Fame championship team, while also leading her 2011 team to the MHAL Championship after leading her team to four straight sectional finals appearances. She also helped her lacrosse team to the sectional finals as a senior.

A Principal’s List honoree, she is the daughter of Leszek and Sophie Koralus. Her father played semi-professional soccer in Poland and Germany as a goalie. She is majoring in physical therapy at Sage.
