Record-setting season comes to an end with loss at FSC

Farmingdale, NY–The Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team travelled to Farmingdale State College for a Skyline Conference match-up with the Rams. FSC posted a 22-8 victory to improve to 7-9 overall and 6-1 in the Skyline Conference to secure the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Skyline Conference Tournament. For the Gators, the record-setting 2016 season comes to an end for rookie head coach Lauren Marois. Sage went 5-10 overall and 1-6 in the league, breaking the program's mark for most wins in a season along the way, while also shattering the mark for most goals in a season (158) and most points (189) and tying the mark for most assists in a season with 31.

Senior Nicole Maher (Glen Cove, NY/Saint Dominic) added a team-best four goals in the action to cap her career with 29 goals and 5 assists. A four-year letterwinner in women's soccer, Maher added women's lacrosse to her resume this spring and in her lone season on the team, tallied 34 points to finish second in scoring. Her 2016 accomplishments also rank among the program's all-time career highs as she stands No. 7 in goals (29), No. 8 in assists (5), and No. 7 in points (34).

Junior captain Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Millbrook) added three goals in the action, while sophomore Nikki Pedone (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) added a goal.

Koralus' junior season helped the attacker shatter most of the program's career and single-season marks along the way. She led the Gators with 77 points on 64 goals and 15 assists, all of which are single-season marks. She is also the program's career leader in all three categories as she has 149 points on a record 113 goals and 36 assists, while also holding the career mark for most draw controls after adding a single-season record 64 this season to elevate her career total to 118.

Sage's other senior on the team, defender and team co-captain Jena Jacot (Parishville, NY/Parishville-Hopkinton Central) also wrapped her stellar career. A two-time Skyline Conference all-star on defense, she caps her 2016 campaign with 4 points with 26 caused turnovers, 12 draw controls and 15 ground ball pickups. She holds the program's career record for most caused turnovers with 66, while ranking third all-time with her 63 ground ball pickups. She started 36 career games and ranks 6th, while her 38 career games played is 8th all-time as a Gator.

Sage junior captain and goalie Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) made nine saves in net for her effort. The program's all-time saves leader, she tallied 137 elevating her career record holding mark to include 423 saves.
