Sage falls to Mt. St. Mary in Skyline Lacrosse Action

Newburgh, NYThe Knights of Mt. St. Mary College posted a 16-8 victory over the Gators of Sage College on Wednesday night at Kaplan Stadium. With the win, the Knights are now 5-7 overall and 1-3 in the Skyline, while Sage falls to 4-8 overall and 0-4 in the league.

Sage's junior captain Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Millbrook) registered two goals and two assists in the contest.  She continues to add to her trio of active career marks as she is the program's all-time leading scorer with 98 goals, 34 assists and 132 points.  She also leads the 2016 lineup with her impressive 49 goals and 13 assists, good enough for 62 points. Her 49 goals in a season is the second most in the program's history as she trails just one person, Alexa Pajak as she had 53 goals during the 2013 campaign.

Rookie Michaela DeRuzzio (Hudson, NY/Taconic Hills) and sophomore Martine Ianniello (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) each found the net twice in the action, while senior Nicole Maher (Glen Cove, NY/Saint Dominic) added a goal for the Gators. Senior defender Jena Jacot (Parishville, NY/Parishville-Hopkinton Central) also scored in the contest.

Maher now has 20 goals on the season and 23 points which is second on the squad, while Ianniello is now fourth in scoring with 15 goals on the campaign.

Sage junior captain and goalie Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) made 10 saves in net for her efforts. The program's all-time saves leader she has 118 this season and 404 on her career.

The Gators will be back in action on April 23 hosting the College of Mt. St. Vincent in a Skyline Conference contest at Watervliet H.S. with a 4:30 p.m. start. Prior to the game, Sage will honor their seniors, Nicole Maher and Jena Jacot. Additionally, Sage will hold their Flood the Swamp with White promotion with free t-shirts for fans wearing white to the contest.
