Sage women's lacrosse posts second straight win as Gators top Elms, 18-11

Chicopee, MAThe Sage Colleges' women's lacrosse team posted the second straight win on the 2016 season as the Gators topped Ems College, 18-11. Now 2-1 on the year, Sage was paced by the play of junior co-captain Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Millbrook) poured in 10 points on six goals and four assists. Sage improves to 2-1 on the year, while Elms falls to 1-4.

Sage led 9-4 at the half and by game's end had tallied 18 goals, which ranks third all-time for the most scores in a match. Koralus led all scorers with her 10 points and ties the Gator record book for the third best outing for a Sage player. She stands No. 2 all-time with 89 points, while ranking No. 2 now in goals (62 and No. 1 in career assists (25).  On the 2016 season, Koralus has taken a commanding lead in the scoring race as she has 15 goals with four assists and 19 points.

Sophomore attacker Martine Ianniello (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) added three goals for Sage, while sophomore Adriana Spucches (Red Hook, NY/Red Hook) added her first career goals as she added three goals in the win. Sophomore Nikki Pedone (Ballston Lake, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) added two goals with an assist.

In goal, Sage's junior Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) picked up the win as she made six saves in the contest. Already Sage's career victory leader in goal, she has seven career wins and continues to draw closer to the program's career saves mark. She has 314 saves, just shy of surpassing the mark held by Courtney Reed (324, 2010-2013).

Sage returns to action on March 19 travelling to Ramapo College for a 1 p.m. non-conference contest.
