Tapped as a team co-captain for the 2016 campaign, Monica Koralus is poised to add her name to several new records as she opens her junior season in lacrosse.

A graduate of Millbrook High School, she was a three-sport performer in high school, excelling in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse. A team captain in soccer, she was also voted the Most Athletic Award recipient. She also earned a spot on the Section 9 Lacrosse All-Star Team.

In soccer, she was part of the 2009 National Soccer Hall of Fame championship team, while also leading her 2011 team to the MHAL Championship after leading her team to four straight sectional finals appearances. She also helped her lacrosse team to the sectional finals as a senior.

In her first soccer season at Sage, she started 13 of 15 games played and tallied three points on a goal and an assist. She also excelled on the lacrosse field in her first season year as a Gator, having connected for 20 points on 15 goals and five assists, the second highest scoring total on the team. She played in 18 games on the pitch in 2014 and added one goal with a pair of assists. She connected for the game-winning goal as Sage beat SUNY-Canton, 3-0. 

This past fall, she helped the soccer team to the program’s most wins in a season after a 14-4-1 campaign that also culminated with the team capturing the squad’s first Skyline Conference regular-season championship. She added three goals with an assist in 18 games played at midfield and was a nine-game starter. She has now played in 48 games on the pitch with 14 points on five goals with four assists.

Her success in soccer parlayed into a strong spring campaigns with the Gator lacrosse team as she was the second-leading scorer in 2015 with 34 goals and 16 assists. She also had 28 ground ball pickups with an impressive 35 draw controls. By year’s end, she was honored as the Gator Award winner as the Most Valuable Player.

Koralus opens the 2016 lacrosse season poised to become the program’s all-time leading scorer as she has 70 points and is No. 2 behind Alexa Pajak’s 106 points. She already holds the career assist mark in lacrosse with 21 in just two years of service as she has 49 goals and 21 assists in just 25 games played.

A Principal’s List honoree, she is the daughter of Leszek and Sophie Koralus. Her father played semi-professional soccer in Poland and Germany as a goalie. She is majoring in physical therapy at Sage.
