Sage Women's Lacrosse Squad placed Three performers on 2015 IWLCA Scholar-Athlete Team

Albany, NY—The Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) honored 404 student-athletes from 127 different institutions with inclusion in the 2015 IWLCA/Zag Sports Division III Academic Honor Roll. All student-athletes were nominated by their schools and have achieved at least junior status academically and had a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.  Leading the way was the 2015 IWLCA/Zag Sports Division III Scholar-Athlete of the Year Whitney Powel from Denison University.

Earning acclaim for her efforts in the classroom once again this year was graduate student Shirah Fudin (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem), who posted an impressive 4.0 as a health education major in the graduate school at The Sage Colleges.

Joining her as newcomers on the Academic Honor Roll from Sage were junior defender Jena Jacot (Parishville, NY/Parishville-Hopkinton Central) and senior defender Shannon Rossi (Niskayuna, NY/Colonie). Jacot, who earned her second selection to the Skyline Conference Second Team last season, was a consistent starter for the program adding three assists with 21 caused turnovers and 34 ground ball pickups in 2015. A physical education major at Sage, she was named to the Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete team as well as Sage’s Scholar-Athlete Team for her efforts in the classroom with a 3.52 grade-point average as a physical education major.

Rossi, who boasts a 3.567 grade point average as a business major at Sage, started 11 games last season, while helping to anchor the Gator defense. She added three goals with four assists and tallied eight caused turnovers on the campaign. She was also a repeat honoree on the Skyline Conference Scholar-Athlete Team and Sage's Scholar-Athlete Squad.

These are the latest honors for the team, which was also cited as a 2015 IWLCA Scholar-Athlete Team having achieved a team combined grade-point average of 3.0 or higher last semester.
