Women's lacrosse falls to SJC in Skyline opener on the road

Patochogue, NY--The Gators of The Sage Colleges' travelled to Long Island and faced the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College (LI) on Saturday in Skyline Conference play. SJC posted a 19-2 win to improve to 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the league, while Sage falls to 0-5 overall and 0-1 in the league.

SJC led 11-0 at the break Ela Igdeler paced the team with his seven points on three goals and four assists, while Heather Ferchland had four goals with an assist in the action.

Sage's sophomore Monica Kolarus (Verbank, NY/Millbrook) added one goal and an assist, while rookie Martine Ianniello (Havre de Grace, MD/Havre de Grace) scored a goal for the Gators.

Koralus now has now has 31 career points on 23 goals and 8 assists and is No. 5 on the all-time scoring list, while standing No. 6 in career goals with 23.

Sage's tandem of sophomore Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) and sophomore Chelsea Hunt (Verplanck, NY/Hendrick Hudson) shared time in goal.  St. Pierre had eight saves with 12 goals allowed, while Hunt made three saves with seven goals allowed.

Sage returns to action on March 31 travelling to Bard College for a make-up non-conference match-up at Dietz Stadium at 6 p.m. on Tuesday night.
