St. Pierre Named 2014 Women's Lacrosse Gator of the Year

Albany, NY – The Sage College's department of athletics gathered to recognize and honor the outstanding performances of the 2013-2014 year with the naming of the athletic award winners for the 15 varsity athletic teams. In addition to awarding the Gator Award, for the Most Outstanding Player, the department also named the 2013-2014 Female and Male Athletes of the Year as well as the ECAC Merit Medal and the Dean Sharon Robinson Senior Male and Female Scholar-Athletes of the Year.

Rookie goalie Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) was named the recipient of the Gator Award for her efforts in net for the Sage women's lacrosse team in 2014.

Head women's lacrosse coach Pete Stapleton said of St. Pierre, "Jackie stepped into the starting role as a freshman and produced results in a big way for the program." Stapleton continued, "She etched her name in our record book in only her season of competition. With three years remaining, she has the potential to lead the program in a new direction. She was a great addition to Sage's women's lacrosse team and we look forward to many more years if success with her playing in the crease. Her commitment to the sport, the program, and her teammates was recognized by her peers as she has been selected as of the team's captains for the 2014-2015 season!"

St. Pierre is ranked in the latest NCAA Division III statistical release as she is ranked No. 24 in Division III with her 11.08 saves per game average, while also ranking in overall saves (133) and saves percentage (.463).

As a rookie, she started all 12 games in net and was part of the team's record-setting lineup in the 2014 finale as Sage broke the single-game scoring mark with 21 goals as they beat the Mariners, 21-9. The 21 goals betters the 19 goals the Gators have achieved on two previous occasions. Sage finished the year with a record of 4-8.
