St. Joe's tops Sage in Skyline Lacrosse Opener

Troy, NY---The Sage Colleges women's lacrosse team hosted the Golden Eagles of St. Joseph's College (LI) in the Skyline Conference opener for both squad. St. Joe's tallied a 19-4 win to improve to 6-2 overall and 1-0 in the league, while the Gators drop to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

St. Joe's led 10-2 at the break and were paced by the play of sophomore Heather Ferchland (Selden, NY/Centereach) as she had five goals in the action, elevating her total to 24 goals.  Sophomore attacker Tori Gregson (East Islip, NY/East Islip) added three goals and now has 20 goals on the season. Sophomore Jessica Cordano (Oakdale, NY/Connetquot) added four assists as well.

Sophomore midfielder Kimberlee Carr (Colonie, NY/Colonie Central) added three goals to lead Sage, elevating her season total to 12 goals. Rookie Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Milbrook) connected for a goal and now has four goals on the year.

For the Gators, rookie goalie Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) took the loss after 51 minutes of work, while making 10 saves. Sophomore Brittany Brown (Clifton Park, NY/Cohoes) also played in goal for Sage. SJC's rookie Courtney Wickline (Medford, NY/Bellport) added three saves in earning the win.

Sage returns to action on March 25 travelling to Ramapo College. St. Joseph's College (LI) is back in action on March 26 travelling to Wesleyan University for a 6 p.m. game.
