Bard stymies Gators in women's lacrosse

Schenectady, NY---The Sage Colleges women's lacrosse team hosted the Raptors of Bard College on Tuesday night. Bard collected the 20-3 win to improve to 2-0, while Sage drops to 1-2.

The Raptors led 14-1 at the half and were paced by the play of senior midfielder Stephanie LaMont (Skippack, PA/Germantown Academy) with six goals. She leads the Raptors on the season with nine goals. Junior Simone Leitner (New York, NY/School of the Future) added four goals, while senior Victoria Fleisher (Selden, NY/Newfield) added three goals.  Senior Brianna Bean (Kaneohe, HI/Castle) connected for two goals and two assists.

Sage's rookie Monica Koralus (Verbank, NY/Milbrook) connected for two goals and an assist, elevating her season total to three goals for the Gators.

For the Gators, rookie goalie Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) took the loss after 37 minutes of work, while making eight saves. Sophomore Brittany Brown (Clifton Park, NY/Cohoes) also played in goal and made three saves in her 23 plus minutes of work. Bard's junior Clara Sekowski (Los Angeles, CA/San Dieguito Academy) started the game and made three saves with one goal allowed in 30 minutes. Rookie Winta Mehari (Stone Mountain, GA/Chamblee Charter) worked the second half and gave up just two goals with two saves.

Sage returns to action on March 22 hosting St. Joseph's College (LI) in the team's Skyline Conference opener at  1 p.m. at nearby Renwyck Field on the campus of RPI. Bard is back in action on March 20 hosting Richard Stockton College at 7 p.m.
