Kean spoils Sage home opener with 15-3 win

Troy, NY---The Sage Colleges women's lacrosse team hosted the Cougars of Kean University on Tuesday afternoon at RPI's Renwyck Field. Kean posted the 15-3 win to improve to 4-0 and put Sage at 1-1 on the season.

Kean lead 7-1 at the break and was paced by the play of junior Maggie Brocklebank (Long Branch, NJ/Long Branch) as she had five goals and an assist. Sophomore midfielder Jordan Blanda (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) connected for three goals and an assist. Brockleblank leads the Cougar offense this year with 14 goals and nine assists for 23 points, while Blanda has 14 goals and two assists for 16 points.

Sage's senior Emily Stevenson (Ithaca, NY/Newfield) and sophomore defender Jena Jacot (Parishville, NY/Parishville-Hopkinton Central) each scored once for their first tallies of the year. Sophomore midfielder Kimberlee Carr (Colonie, NY/Colonie Central) connected for one goal as well. Carr, who earned Skyline Conference Player of the Week honors, leads Sage this season with nine goals and nine points.

Rookie goalie Jackie St. Pierre (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park) took the loss after 46 minutes of work with 12 goals allowed and 10 saves. She drops to 1-1. Sophomore Brittany Brown (Clifton Park, NY/Cohoes) also worked in goal for Sage and made three saves with three goals allowed in 14 minutes of work.

Kean's junior Sharelle Lowe (West Windsor, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro) made her season debut in net for the Cougars and made two saves with three goals allowed in earning the win. She shared time in net with sophomore Danielle Wagenti (Wayne, NJ/Wayne Valley).

Sage returns to action on March 14 hosting Bay Path College at 1 p.m. at nearby Renwyck Field on the campus of RPI. Kean is back in action on March 13 facing Meredith College in Hilton Head, SC with a 1 p.m. start
