RSC Unable to Down E8-Leading Cardinals

PITTSFORD, N.Y. - Empire 8 Conference-leading St. John Fisher shot 59.3 percent from the field and put six players in double figures to defeat visiting Russell Sage College 95-70 this afternoon.

Up 51-41 at the break, the Cardinals (13-2/8-0 E8) opened the second half on a 16-1 run to help increase their winning streak to nine.

Sophomore guard Lauren Sanderson (Ravena, NY/RCS) established a career-high of 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting in the E8 setback.

Forward Giuliana Pritchard (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam/Hartwick), a graduate student, added 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting and five assists, while sophomore guard Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY/Tamarac), who was named the E8 Player of the Week on Monday, added 13 points and team-high six rebounds.

Sophomore guard Sydney Tomasso topped St. John Fisher, which outscored the Gators 21-8 in the third period, with 18 points on 7-of-12 shooting.  

Looking ahead, RSC (9-7/5-4 E8) continues its stretch of four-consecutive conference road games on Friday at Keuka. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 pm.
