ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College sophomore guard Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY/Tamarac) was selected the Empire 8 Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the period ending Sunday, January 15.

The reigning E8 Rookie of the Year registered 25.0 points per-game on 58.5 percent shooting to help the Gators go 3-0 last week.  She totaled 18 rebounds, 10 steals and nine assists across the trio of E8 home victories.

Faraj, who scored her 500th career point on Dec. 29th vs. Rhode Island College, begins the week as the conference leader in scoring at 19.9 points per-game. She ranks fifth on the circuit in rebounding (9.1), steals (2.2) and field goal percentage (.470).

Looking ahead, RSC (9-5/5-2 E8) plays its next four games on the road.  The stretch of road contests begins on Friday at Nazareth. RSC returns to the Kahl Campus Center on February 3.
