Women's Basketball Heading to Puerto Rico for the Holidays

2022-23 RSC WBB

ALBANY, N.Y. – The Russell Sage College women's basketball team is heading to Puerto Rico for the holidays.

The Gators (6-1/2-0 Empire 8) have two games scheduled at the 2022 Puerto Rico Clásico Tournament. RSC is slated to face SUNY Geneseo on December 29 and Mount Holyoke on December 30.

"We are excited to travel to Puerto Rico to compete against some high level competition after the holiday break," said Head Coach Allison Coleman, now in her ninth season at the helm. "This is a great opportunity for our team to spend time together on the road in beautiful San Juan, while providing a test of our mental and physical strength coming off of a long break and being challenged to remain focused on our goals."

RSC, off to its best start since 1988-89, is coming off a trip to the semifinals of the E8 Conference Championship Tournament. Sophomore guard Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY/Tamarac), the 2021-22 E8 Rookie of the Year, and two-time All-Conference guard Sammy Pasinella (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville), a graduate student, highlighted the group of 11 returning players from that squad.
