Women's hoops drops non-conference game to Oneonta State on Saturday

Oneonta, N.Y. – Russell Sage College's women's basketball team travelled to Oneonta State for a non-conference match-up. The host Red Dragons posted the 71-55 win to move to 3-2 overall, while the loss was the first of the season for the Gators as they move to 2-1. RSC held a 33-32 edge at the half, but Oneonta State had a strong second half holding a 52-43 lead at the end of the third quarter.

For the Gators, sophomore guards Lauren Sanderson (Ravena, NY/RCS) and Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY/Tamarac) each finished in double-digit scoring. Sanderson added 14 points with five rebounds, three steals and a blocked shot in the action. Faraj, the reigning Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Year, added 10 points with a team-best eight boards, including seven defensive rebounds. She handed out two assists, with two steals, and a blocked shot as well.

Forward Giuliana Pritchard (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam/Hartwick), a graduate student, contributed nine points with six defensive caroms as well.

Oneonta State had three players finish in double-digits in the contest as Amanda Zuntag led all players with her 20 points after making 10-of-14 shots from the floor. Meg Nardelli added 13 points with 9 rebounds, while Olovia Dobrovosky had 11 points and Jenna Harclerode led all players in rebounding with 13 boards.

Looking ahead, RSC hosts SUNY-Morrisville on Tuesday, November 22 at 3 p.m. in conjunction with their Faculty Appreciation Game.


Notes: The Gators are coming off a semifinal appearance in the Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament…11 players returned from the team…Faraj and Pasinella highlight the group…Faraj was voted the 2021-22 E8 Rookie of the Year, while Pasinella, a two-time All-Conference selection, opened the season ranked sixth in program records with 120 career made three-pointers…Head coach Allison Coleman began her ninth season at the helm with an overall record of 119-74.
