ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College freshman guard Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY/Tamarac) was named the Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 13.

Faraj averaged a double-double of 15.5 points and 10.5 rebounds last week. The freshman guard made 50.0 percent of her field goals as the  Gators went 2-0. She topped all players with 16 points in Friday's win vs. Houghton and recorded a double-double of 15 points and 13 rebounds in Saturday's victory vs. Alfred.

This marks the third time this season that Faraj has earned the weekly honor. She also took home the accolade on November 15 and December 6.

On the year, Faraj is averaging 12.5 points and 7.5 rebounds, and has registered eight double-doubles.

Looking ahead, the Gators (11-12/7-7 E8) play next on Friday at Keuka at 5:30 pm.
