Gators Finish Strong to Defeat Visiting Houghton 53-45

ALBANY, N.Y. – Russell Sage College outscored visiting Houghton 10-0 across the final 3:22 to pick up a 53-45 Empire 8 Conference victory this evening at the Kahl Campus Center.

Senior forward Kyra Oeffler (Green Island, NY/Heatly) (above) recorded a double-double of 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting and 11 rebounds to lead the Gators (10-12/6-7 E8).

Freshman guard Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY/Tamarac) added 16 points and eight boards, while freshman guard Lauren Sanderson (Ravena, NY/RCS) contributed seven points and nine rebounds.

Sophomore forward Carlee Miller topped Houghton (9-13/3-10 E8) with 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting.

Looking ahead, RSC hosts Alfred tomorrow at 2:00 pm. Before the game, the athletic department will recognize three players: senior guard Madison Greco (Utica, NY/West Canada Valley), senior guard Meghan Murray (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet), and Oeffler, for their contributions to the program.


Notes: The Gators close the regular season by playing five of the final seven games on the road…Senior guard Sammy Pasinella (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville), who was named first-team All-Conference last season, equaled a program record with eight made three-pointers last Tuesday vs. Utica…A Gator has earned E8 Rookie of the Week honors three times this season… Faraj  took home the accolade twice (11/15, 12/6), while Sanderson was selected on 1/17.
