ONEONTA, N.Y. – Russell Sage College was unable to cool off a streaking Hartwick squad, falling 66-44 this evening on the road.

Senior guard Sammy Pasinella (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville), who was named the Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week on Monday, and freshman guard Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY/Tamarac) (above) topped the Gators (8-9/4-4 E8) with 13 points apiece.  Senior guard Meghan Murray (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet) added seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds.

Hartwick (12-4/7-1 E8), now winners of five-straight games, had three players net double figures. Sophomore guard Mikyla Mitchell registered 17 points on 6-of-14 shooting and nine rebounds to lead the way.

The Hawks, which moved to 8-1 at home, broke open the contest with a 20-1 run across 11:23 spanning the third and fourth quarters.

Now acquainted, the teams will face each other in Albany on Thursday at 5:30 pm. Fans unable to attend the game can watch on the Empire 8 Network.

Notes: Pasinella, a first-team All-Conference pick last season, averaged 18.3 points on 40.5 percent shooting across three games last week...She equaled a program record with eight made three-pointers last Tuesday vs. Utica…A Gator has earned E8 Rookie of the Week honors three times this season… Faraj took home the accolade twice (11/15, 12/6), while guard Lauren Sanderson (Ravena, NY/RCS) was selected on 1/17.
