Balanced Effort Helps Gators Earn Road Victory

ALFRED, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College outscored host Alfred 19-3 across the final 6:15 to pick up a 73-54 Empire 8 Conference victory this evening.

Five Gators (5-7/1-2 E8) netted double figures in the road win.

Senior guard Meghan Murray (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet) (above) recorded a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds, while freshman guard Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY/Tamarac) topped all players with 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Senior guard Sammy Pasinella (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville), who dished out a game-high four assists, added 11 points, and junior guard Renna Poulin (Troy, NY/Tamarac) and freshman guard Lauren Sanderson (Ravena, NY/RCS) each registered 10 points.

The Gators, which started the contest on a 18-9 run, limited the Saxons to 28.6% shooting, including 7.4% (2-of-27) from beyond the arc. 

Senior guard Gillian Flint led Alfred (6-6/1-1 E8) with 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting.

RSC is slated to return to the court tomorrow at Houghton. The Saturday E8 matinee is set to begin at 2:00 pm.


Notes: Eight returnees plus six newcomers comprise this year's RSC roster...Senior guard Sammy Pasinella (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville), who was named first-team All-Conference last season, headlines the group of returnees...Head Coach Allison Coleman, now in her eighth season, began the campaign with a 106-60 (.639) overall record.
