Oeffler's double-double not enough as Gators fall short in E8 play to Nazareth

ALBANY, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College fell to visiting Nazareth 70-47 this afternoon. The Gators move to 4-7 overall and 0-2 in the Empire 8, while Nazareth is now 7-5 overall and 2-1 in the league.

Senior forward Kyra Oeffler (Green Island, NY/Heatly) led the Gators with a double-double as she finished with 12 points and 12 rebounds. She collected seven offensive rebounds, made four steals, and shot an impressive 6-11 from the floor.

RSC's senior guard Sammy Pasinella (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) was 2-2 from three point range, while netting eight points. She boasts 615 points with 83 three-point baskets and ranks 11th in made three-point shots as a Gator.

Junior guard Renna Poulin (Troy, NY/Tamarac) added nine points, while rookie guard Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY/Tamarac) collected 10 rebounds to go with her six points, four steals, and a blocked shot.

Nazareth, which led 34-22 at the break, was paced by graduate player, Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy). The guard finished with a game-best 21 points with nine boards and six assists. She was also 3-4 from downtown for the Golden Flyers. Senior forward Kim Davis (Pavilion, NY/Pavilion) had a double-double with 13 rebounds and 12 points, while senior guard Caley Cornwell (Homer, NY/Homer) finished with 10 points.

Looking ahead, RSC is scheduled to play at Alfred on Friday at 5:30 p.m. in Empire 8 play.
