Pasinella earns All-Tournament Team acclaim as Gators face Wesleyan

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. –  Russell Sage College fell at Wesleyan this afternoon in the final day of the Wesleyan University Classic, 92-70. Wesleyan improves to 3-1, while the Gators stand at 3-3 on the year.

Senior guard Sammy Pasinella (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) (above) was named to the All-Tournament Team as RSC's representative. On Saturday, Pasinella paced the Gators with her 17 points and three assists. For the tournament, she netted 31 points with seven assists, and 10 rebounds.

Freshman guard Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY/Tamarac), the reigning Empire 8 Conference Rookie of the Week, finished with 11 points, while sophomore forward Bre Lott (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) racked up 10 points with nine rebounds after she was 8-8 from the free throw line.

Pasinella is off to a strong start on the season as she leads the Gators with her 18.4ppg and is closing in on her 600th career point as she now has 582 points. Faraj checks in with a 15.7 ppg average, while sophomore forward Savannah Sommer (Mohawk, NY/Central Valley Academy) has a 13.5 ppg average and leads the team with her 9.7rpg average on 58 rebounds.

Wesleyan was paced by the play of  Caleigh Ryan as she finished with a double-double on 24 points with 11 rebounds as she earned a spot on the all-tournament team.  Maddie Clark was named MVP and tallied 21 points with five assists to help her team on Saturday with the victory.

Looking ahead, Sage has its home opener on December 2 vs. SUNY Cobleskill. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m in the Kahl Gymnasium.


Notes: Faraj was named the E8 Rookie of the Week on Monday...She averaged 15.7 points, on 51.6 percent shooting, and 6.7 rebounds last week...Nine returnees plus six newcomers comprise this year's roster...Pasinella was named first-team All-E8 last season...Head Coach Allison Coleman, now in her eighth season, began the campaign with a 106-60 (.639) overall record.
