BOSTON–  Russell Sage College was upended 65-60 by Moravian this afternoon in the first round of the Emmanuel College Tip-Off Tournament. The Greyhounds utilized a 14-5 fourth quarter run to erase a late Gator lead in the non-conference matinee.

Freshman guard Syrita Faraj (Troy, NY/Tamarac) topped RSC with a career-high 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Sophomore forward Savannah Sommer (Mohawk, NY/Central Valley Academy) added 13 points, also a career-high, on 5-of-7 shooting, while senior guard Meghan Murray (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet) (above) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

Sophomore forward Sam Osorio led Moravian (1-1) with 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting and nine rebounds.

Up three, 60-57, with 0:45 left, Moravian was able to do enough at the foul line to ensure the win. The made free throws were important when senior guard Lily Batule (Slate Hill, NY/Minisink Valley) knocked down a three with 0:06 remaining to make it a 63-60 contest. The Greyhounds added a pair of foul shots with two seconds remaining for the final margin.

The Gators (1-1) will face Salve Regina or Emmanuel in tomorrow's consolation game. Tip-off is set for 1:00pm.
