Cardinals use strong second half to beat RSC

Albany, NY — Russell Sage College women's basketball team travelled to St. John Fisher College for an Empire 8 contest on Friday night. Sage led 33-30 at the break but the Cardinals used a strong second half to overtake the Gators for the win as they triumphed 84-61. SJFC is now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Empire 8, while Sage stands at 1-1 overall and also in the E8.

Junior guard Sammy Pasinella (Mechanicville, NY/Mechanicville) led the Gators with 19 points and added four rebounds. She was perfect from the line converting all 10 of her free throws she attempted. On the year, Pasinella leads the team in scoring with her 17.5 ppg average and now has 443 career points.

Senior forward Madasyn Bush (Pottersville, NY/North Warren Central) collected nine points with six rebounds for the night, while junior Kyra Oeffler (Green Island, NY/Heatly) had eight points to go with her three rebounds. Junior guard Meghan Murray (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet) hauled down six rebounds to go with her six points.

SJFC got 20 points from Miranda Lynch, while Amy Gardner added 14 points for the Cardinals. Hannah Morse and Kathlyn Walker both finished with double-digit scoring after adding 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The two teams will meet again on Sunday as the Gators host St. John Fisher College in an Empire 8 contest at 2 p.m. on March 14.
