Bowman's double-double helps Sage roll past Alfred, 87-61

 

Albany, NY–The Gators of the Sage Colleges posted an 87-61 win over Alfred University on Sunday afternoon in Kahl Gym. The victory puts Sage at 12-10 overall and 8-3 in the Empire 8, while Alfred drops to 5-17 overall and 1-10 in the league. Sage led 39-32 at the half and never faced a tie or trailed in the second stanza.

Graduate performer, Kaitlyn Bowman (Chateaugay, NY/Saranac) put up a double-double after she finished with 17 points and 13 rebounds with five assists and three steals. Bowman, who has now appeared 104 career games, which stands tied for fourth all-time with Emily Parslow. Bowman has 15 career double-doubles with six this season.

Senior guard Gessica Patregnani (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) added 16 points after connecting for four three pointers, giving her 148 career three's. She is now fourth in three-point baskets and has added 691 career points in 98 contests played at Sage.

For the Gators, sophomore guard Sammy Pasinella (Troy, NY/Mechanicville) also finished in double-digits with 15 points with seven assists and made 5-of-9 shots from the floor.  Sophomore forward Emily Pike (Ticonderoga, NY/Ticonderoga) added 11 points off the bench, while rookie forward Renna Poulin (Troy, NY/Tamarac) added a personal-best 10 points with five rebounds and a blocked shot in the action as Sage combined to outrebound the Saxons, 53-36.

Alfred's rookie guard Rebecca Jewett (Nyack, NY/Nyack) added a game-high 20 points with four boards, while senior guard Jamie Wilcox (Forestville, NY/Pine Valley) collected 10 points.

Sage travels to St. John Fisher College for a 7:30 p.m. Empire 8 contest on February 14, while hosts Alfred University hosts Elmira on Feb. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in Empire 8 action.
