Big fourth quarter leads Gators to 71-56 win at Alfred

Alfred, NY— Senior guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) scored a game high 25 points and The Sage Colleges women's basketball team scored 26 in the fourth period in route to a 71-56 Empire 8 win over host Alfred University at Galanas Family Arena Saturday afternoon. The Gators are now 7-7 in the league and 12-11 overall while the Saxons stand 2-10 in league play and 6-15 for the season.

Parslow, who scored 53 points in her two weekend games, made six three pointers in the game. She added four rebounds and four assists and now has 1,337 career points, third all-time and behind former teammate Gen Schoff '18 (1,394) in second place. Freshman forward Giuliana Pritchard (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) led all players with nine rebounds and senior guard Macie Holmes (Amsterdam, NY/Mekeel Christian Academy) had 14 points with four assists. Junior forward Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls) added eight rebounds for Sage. The Gators shot 38% for the game and outrebounded the Saxons, 37-34.

Jamie Wilcox led Alfred with 18 points and seven rebounds, both team highs. Lyndsey McCoy scored 15 and Kaylyn Boland pulled down six boards for Alfred, which shot 34% for the game.

Alfred led 23-19 after the first and the second period was a defensive struggle with Sage outscoring the Saxons, 11-10 as the hosts took a 33-30 lead into halftime. Parslow and Holmes along with Pritchard each had seven points at the half. The contest was tied at 45-45 after three quarters but the Gators took over the game in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Saxons, 26-11 to end the weekend with back-to-back league victories.

Sage is back in action on Tuesday night, February 12 vs. Hartwick at 5:30 p.m. in Kahl Gym.
