Flynn leads Gators in loss at Hartwick

Oneonta, NY— Caitlin Corbett scored a game high 25 points to lead Hartwick College to a 93-50 Empire 8 women's basketball win over visiting The Sage Colleges Saturday afternoon at Lambros Arena. The Hawks are now 16-3 overall an 9-1 in the Empire 8, while Sage stands 10-8 an 5-3 in league play.

Hartwick had five players in double figures, including Carly Johnson with 14 and Maggie Kirby with 13. Molly Kirby scored 12 and Mary Schoenherr added 11 for the Hawks, who shot 59% for the game and 82% at the line. The hosts had a 44-23 rebounding advantage.

Junior forward Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) led the Gators with 17 points and nine rebounds. Junior guard Gessica Patregnani (Troy, NY/Lansingburgh) scored 11 points and sophomore forward Madasyn Bush (Pottersville, NY/North Warren Central) scored nine points. Freshman forward Giuliana Pritchard (Amsterdam, NY/Amsterdam) had five assists and five rebounds. Sage shot 34% for the game.

 

Sage trailed by just 11 after the first quarter (26-15), but it was 47-24 Hartwick at the half. The Hawks opened it up with a 24-5 third quarter and the Gators were outscored by just one, 22-21 in the fourth.

 

Sage is back in action Tuesday night, January 29 for an Empire 8 home game against Stevens at 6 p.m. Hartwick hosts Alfred on February 1 at 5:30 p.m.
