Sage women extend win streak to 3 games with 78-46 victory at Elmira
Elmira, NY— Senior guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) scored 28 points to lead The Sage Colleges to a 78-46 women's basketball win at Elmira College in Empire 8 action at Speidel Gymnasium Friday night. The Gators improved to 10-7 overall and 5-2 in the Empire 8 with a third straight league victory, while the Soaring Eagles fell to 4-11 overall and 0-6 in the conference.
 
Parslow made nine of 14 shots from the floor, and seven three pointers, which is tied with four others for the second most in a game for Sage (Parslow has the record of eight set in November vs. RPI). The senior also added six rebounds. She is third all-time at Sage in women's basketball career scoring annals with 1,237 points. 
 
Junior forward Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) posted a game high 12 rebounds with nine points. She now has 10 or more rebounds in four of her last five games. Senior guard Lauren Cross (Moriah Center, NY/Moriah Central) scored a career high 15 points for the Gators and freshman guard Sammy Pasinella (Troy, NY/Mechanicville) also scored a career high with 13 points. Sage shot 50% and 54% from three point territory, and 
had a 43-31 rebounding advantage.
 
Lindsey Heaton led Elmira with 19 points and she was eight of 10 from the charity stripe. The Soaring Eagles made just one of 16 three point attempts against the stifling Sage defense.
 
Sage jumped out to a 11-0 start with 6:27 left in the first quarter, and had a 20-2 lead with 3:25 left in the first. The Gators led 23-8 after one period. Sage had a 36-10 lead with 5:27 remaining in the second period, and took a 45-21 lead into halftime. Parslow had 20 points at the half. The Gators got the lead up to 33 after three quarters, 64-31.
 
Sage continues Empire 8 play tomorrow, Saturday, January 26 at Alfred at 2 p.m. Elmira hosts Stevens in league play Saturday at 2 p.m.
