Parslow wins it for Sage, 74-73 over DeSales

Albany, NY – Senior guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) hit a jumper with 11 seconds remaining to give The Sage Colleges a 74-73 non-league victory over DeSales University Saturday afternoon at Kahl Gym. The Gators improved to 3-2 while the Bulldogs fell to 5-2.

The Gators led by seven in the fourth quarter (64-57 with 7:09 remaining). The Bulldogs took a one point lad on a three pointer by Rylie Rittenhouse with 26 seconds left in the period. Parslow missed a jumper with 13 left but got her own rebound and put back the game winner.

Parlsow finished with 19 points. Sage was led by junior forward Meghan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) who had 20 points, a game high 11 rebounds and a career high four steals. Junior forward Tamisha Edge (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) added 16 points with a career and game high nine assists. Sophomore forward Madasyn Bush (Pottersville, NY/North Warren Central) had 10 rebounds. Sage shot 40% and had a commanding 53-35 rebounding advantage.

Leandra Sterner led all players with 22 points and Samantha Shinkus and Rittenhouse scored 11 each for DeSales. The Bulldogs forced 28 turnovers and shot 39%. Bridget Walsh had nine rebounds. Sage had a 19-14 lead after the first period and led 42-37 at halftime. The Gators led 56-48 after three quarters.

Parslow now has 1,041 career points, placing her sixth all-time ahead of Elizabeth Pearl '91 (1,026) for sixth all-time.

Sage returns to action Tuesday, December 4 for a non-league game at Skidmore College at 6 p.m. DeSales is at FDU-Florham for a MAC-Freedom conference game at 6 p.m.
