Gators suffer setback at Nazareth, 52-42

Rochester, NY- Sage's women's basketball team travelled to western New York to take on Nazareth College on Saturday afternoon in an Empire 8 contest. The Golden Flyers collected the 52-42 win over Sage to improve to 9-9 overall and 5-4 in the Empire 8. With the loss, Sage falls to 12-6 overall and 6-3 in the Empire 8.

Nazareth held a 22-19 lead at the half and Sage cut the lead to just one in the third quarter, 24-23 with 7:23 left on a Kaitlyn Bowman layup. Nazareth exchanged baskets, but by the quarter's end, Nazareth had an eight point lead, 36-28. Sage did not go away in the fourth quarter and continued to chip away at the Golder Flyers' lead, pulling within four points (40-36, at 5:35). The Gators were unable to get the lead any closer and fell on the road to Nazareth.

Senior forward Genevieve Schoff (Little Falls, NY/Little Falls) added her 68th career game of scoring in double digits as she led the team with her 20 points. She just missed a double-double as she had nine boards. She added four blocks, four steals and two assists to wrap her stat line on Saturday.

Sage's junior guard Emily Parslow (Fonda, NY/Fonda-Fultonville) collected nine points with five rebounds and two assists. Sophomore Megan Flynn (Hoosick Falls, NY/Hoosick Falls Central) contributed eight rebounds with four points and a block and a steal .

With her numbers on Saturday, Schoff surpassed the 1,300 career point plateau. She stands second all-time with 1,314 points. She is also No. 2 in rebounding with 824 boards, while now having played in 100 career games. She is third in games played and is just nine games away from breaking the all-time mark currently held by Frankie Pearson (108, 2013-2017). She is also second in career blocks with 121.

Parlsow is now 10th in career scoring with 838 point and ranks second in career three pointers with 149.

Sage returns to action on Tuesday, January 30 at Hartwick College for an 8 p.m. Empire 8 match-up.
